NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Notice is hereby given under Article 9.3 of the Articles of Association of the Cyprus Institute of Financial Services (“the Institute”) that the Annual General Meeting of the Institute will take place on Wednesday, 20th of December, 2017 at 4.00 p.m. at the Eurolife Ltd – Head Office, 4 Evrou str, 2003 Strovolos, Nicosia.

AGENDA

  1. To receive the report of the Committee.
  2. To consider the Financial Statements for the year ended 31st December 2016 and to receive the Auditor’s report.
  3. To consider questions concerning the functioning and management of the Institute.
  4. To elect the President of the Institute.
  5. To elect new Members of the Committee.
  6. To re-elect Members of the Committee retiring by rotation.
  7. To appoint the Auditors for the ensuing year.

 

(A)   Mr. Nicolas Hadjiyiannis is proposed for election as President of the Institute and Chairman of the Committee.

 

(B)   In accordance with Article 13.8. one-third of the Members of the Committee shall retire from office but are eligible for re-election. The following persons are proposed for re-election as Members of the Committee, no other candidates having been nominated pursuant to Article 13.12:

NOTICE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

 Notice is also given to the members of the Cyprus Institute of Financial Services that, after the end of the Annual General Meeting, an Extraordinary General Meeting will take place to consider and, if thought fit, to approve amendments to the Articles of Association of the Institute.

 

A member of the Institute entitled to attend and vote at a General Meeting is entitled to appoint a proxy to attend and vote on his/her behalf.  A proxy must be a member of the Institute.

ifs University College name change

The ifs University College has announced that it will change its name to the London Institute of Banking & Finance on September 15, 2016 to coincide with the start of the new academic year.

The name change is part of the realisation of the English Institute’s new vision and strategy.

The Cyprus Institute of Financial Services is a society registered in Cyprus and is the successor to The Chartered Institute of Bankers, Cyprus Centre.

The Chartered Institute of Bankers (of England) evolved from its origins as a banking Institute to become the ifs University College, an educational body focusing on finance, with Taught Degree Awarding Powers.

Seminar: Practical Implementation of Corporate Governance by the Banking Sector – May 2016

In collaboration with Globaltraining the Cyprus Institute of Financial Services (CIFS) organised a high level, 1-day seminar titled: ‘Practical Implementation of Corporate Governance by the Banking Sector’.

The seminar was held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the premises of the University of Nicosia.

The seminar was attended by 26 participants, comprising of senior managers and officers of the banks’ corporate governance, compliance and company secretariat functions.

‘Triple E’ Standard

Presentation of the ‘Triple E’ Standard was made at the EBTN Members’ meeting in Rome on January 22, 2016.

The ‘Triple E’ Standard is a voluntary initiative undertaken by the EBTN. ‘Triple E’ is the quality standard for qualifications in the financial services sector in Europe.

EBTN is a network of national banking associations and financial services training providers from across Europe. The Cyprus Institute of Financial Services (CIFS) is the EBTN member for Cyprus.

In-house Co-op AML/CFT seminar

The CIFS, in collaboration with Globaltraining, organised a 1-day seminar on February 1, 2016 titled: ‘Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism: The Role of the Compliance Officer’, which was attended by 40 participants from the Co-operative sector.

November 2015 documentary credit seminars

 

In collaboration with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) the CIFS organised a series of seminars in November 2015, titled: ‘4 Basic Issues of Documentary Credits – Their Applications and Implications’, which were attended by 81 participants.
